Thampi Kannanthanam, director of Rajavinte Makan, dies at 65
Veteran filmmaker and producer Thampi Kannanthanam has died. Aged 65, Thampi was under treatment for liver related diseases at a private hospital in Kochi for several days, breathed his last on Tuesday. Thampi, who started his film career as an actor, has appeared in several movies like Madrasile Mon, Itha Oru Theeram and Nirnayam. Later, he debuted as a director with the Mohanlal starrer Thavalam.
His most notable movie is Rajavinte Makan, which paved the way for Mohanlal to superstardom. He has directed several noted movies like Boomiyile Rajakkanmar, Indrajaalam, Naadody and Onnaman. He has also directed a Bollywood film, Hadh: Life on the Edge of Death.
