Mollywood shines at National Film Awards 2018
The National Film awards were announced on Friday by Shekhar Kapur, the head of the ten member Jury for feature films. Bengali actor Riddhi Sen bags the award for best actor for the film Nagar Kirtan while late actress Sridevi was granted with the best actress award posthumously for her performance in the film Mom. Malayalam film industry had a clear dominance in the feature films section and bagged ten awards in various categories.
Veteran Mollywood director Jayaraj won the National award for best director and best adapted screenplay for the movie Bhayanakam while Nikhil S Praveen bagged the award for best cinematographer for his work for the same movie. Thondimuthalum Dhriksaakshiyum is the best Malayalam movie and its writer Sajeev Pazhoor won the award for the best screenplay. Fahadh Faasil has won the award for best supporting actor for his stellar performance in Thondimuthalum Dhriksaakshiyum.
KJ Yesudas won the award for best singer for the song Poi Maranja Kaalam in the movie Viswasapoorvam Mansoor. Take Off has got a special mention award and Parvathy was given a special mention award for her mind blowing performance in the film. Santhosh Raman won the award for best production design for his work in it. Aalorukkam is the best film with social relevance.
