Mammootty’s Awesome Makeovers for Movies

For an actor, it is essential to do some makeover to make characters more convincing. Megastar Mammootty is one of the actors, who is ready for any makeover as per the demand of the role. Here is the list of some makeovers done by Mammookka.

1. Vaarunni in Mrugaya

Varunni, the uncultured and drunkard leopard hunter in ‘Mrugaya’ is one of the best makeover of Mammootty. We cannot see any glimpses of real Mammootty in this movie, we can’t even identify him. The voice modulation gave to this character too is appreciable. The movie is written by AK Lohithadas and directed by I.V. Sasi. Mammootty won the Best Actor award for his performance in this movie at Kerala state film awards.

2. Mada in Ponthan Mada

Mada in 'Ponthan Mada' is one another character in which Mammootty was seen in an entirely different avatar. In this movie as well, we can’t see any Mammootty mannerisms. He did that role with maximal perfection and won National award for best actor for this movie. The movie is written and directed by T. V. Chandran.

3. Putturumees in Soorya Manasam

Mammootty had essayed the role of Putturumees in the movie ‘Soorya Manasam’ with a completely different avatar. Putturumees is a mentally challenged yet innocent man and it became one of the most acclaimed characters in Mammootty’s career. He won the Kerala film critics award for best actor for this movie. The movie is written by Sab John and directed by Viji Thampi.

4. Murikkum Kunnathu Ahmed Haji in Paleri Manikyam

Murikkum Kunnathu Ahmed Haji, one of the most dangerous villain ever seen in Malayalam films is one of the best makeover by megastar. Mammootty played three distinct roles in the movie, Murikkum Kunnathu Ahmed Haji, Haridas Ahmed and Khalid Ahmed and we can’t see Mammootty in this movie. Mammootty won the Best Actor award at Kerala state film awards for his performance in this movie. The movie is written and directed by Ranjith Based on the story of T. P. Rajeevan in the same name.

5. Pallikkal Narayanan in Pathemari

Pallikkal Narayanan from last year movie ‘Pathemari’ is one of the challenging role portrayed by Mammootty. He essayed the emotional conflicts of Pallikkal Narayanan effortlessly. He won numerous awards for his performance in the movie. The movie is written and directed by Salim Ahamed.

6. Dada Mohammad Sahib in Dada Sahib

In 'Dada Sahib', Mammootty portrayed the role of a freedom fighter, Dada Mohammad Sahib. His makeover for the character was praised a lot by the audience. Mammootty plays the dual role of father (Dada Mohammad Sahib) and son (Subaidar Muhammad Abubacker). The movie is co-written with S Suresh Babu and directed by Vinayan.

7. Unnikrishnan in Yathra

In the movie ‘Yathra’, Mammootty appeared in a tonsured look and there is a scene in the movie, which shows the tonsuring Mammootty. Mammootty won the Special Jury Award in Kerala State Film Awards and the Best Actor award in the Filmfare Award. The movie is directed by Balu Mahendra.
