Malayalam films find new heights in satellite rights records
Malayalam films are finding new heights in both box collection and satelite rights recently. 2015 has been a good year for Malayalam cinema both critically and commercially. Films like Premam, Ennu Ninte Moideen, Amar Akbar Antony, Oru vadakkan selfie were huge hits along with Mammootty starrer Pathemari. Quality of cinema is improved a lot compare to some past years and as the theatre infrastructure has improved tremendously across Kerala, people now prefer to watch films in theatre rather than waiting them to view it in the Television.
As the films are collecting whopping revenue in boxoffice, the race for bagging satellite rights are also became more competitive. Among the Malayalam Channels Asianet, Surya TV, Mazhavil Manorama and Kairali are front line runners for bagging rights of super hit films. Even multiple channels started to buy rights for same movie (eg: Oru Vadakka selfie satellite rights were bought by both Kairali TV and Asianet recently). Some channels buy the satellite right well before the release of the films.
This year Surya TV has bought the rights of films such as Ennu Ninte Moideen, Pathemari, Amar Akbar Antony and Kanal. Kairali TV and Asianet both bagged the rights of Mohanlal starrer film Loham. Ennu Ninte Moideen was sold to Surya TV for 8 Crores. Both Loham and Pathemari were bought for 7 Crores. Ennu Ninte Moideen will be telecasted on December 25, 2015 - 7PM in Surya TV.
